According to Cincinnati councilmember Mark Jeffreys, the city has taken legal action against Memories Lounge, with an injunction keeping the bar temporarily closed until a hearing is held. Advertisement It comes after last weekend’s shooting during a violent altercation inside the club, when 20-year-old Kameiro Blair-Martin was killed. A 20-year-old Cincinnati woman who authorities say shot and killed him will not face homicide charges, after prosecutors said she acted in self-defense . She appeared in court on Wednesday for a concealed weapons charge. According to the lawsuit filed by the city, the city solicitor and the Cincinnati Board of Health, Memories Lounge has been associated with “incidents of violence, disorder, noise complaints, liquor violations, and violations of health and safety codes.” That includes a fight in April, when one customer shot another outside the bar, the lawsuit said. The suit also claims another customer fired nine shots outside the building the following week, hitting cars and an apartment. In September, conflict between customers and security workers at Memories Lounge allegedly involving both sides having guns. "The city has tried to reach out to them and work with them," Jeffreys said. "The police department has tried to work with them on solutions to no avail and I think we're at a point now where we just can't let it stand." The lawsuit states that were more than 700 people inside the club on the night of the shooting, during Halloween celebrations. The lawsuit alleged that the violence is driven by the owners’ business decisions and “recklessness.” One of the owners listed in the lawsuit is Dre Kirkpatrick, a former cornerback with the Cincinnati Bengals. The club hasn’t reopened since last weekend’s homicide. The city said its legal action is seeking to prevent the club from reopening until the defendants comply with regulations.
